WHAT IS FUTURISM?
Futurism is style, music, and philosophy. It's a new kind of rebellion. It's a way of self expression, and a way of fighting
back.
The idea is simple. You express what you want the future to be like through your clothes, music, attitude, and stance. You
make yourself what you want to be. And then....... you start working to make the world that you want to exist.
WHAT WILL THE FUTURE LOOK LIKE?
You decide. The main idea is NOT TO REHASH THE SAME OLD SHIT. (It's OK, of course, to be draw inspirations from various places....
just don't be a copycat!) Wear things that are new and different. Wear things that express who you are and how you want to
be seen. Wear things that express the world that you want to exist.
The main futurist inspiration is science fiction. Visions of the future almost always have something interesting to say about
NOW. And damn, some of those people look fine! Watching the fantastic movie Blade Runner is a good place to start. Aside from
containing the ultimate summation of the futurist philosophy in Roy's line "I want more life, fucker!" There's some interesting
fashion inspiration. Roy, Priss, and Zhora especially look very sharp. Matrix is another great one, and may be blamed for
the futurist fetish for sunglasses.
Go for the android look. Go for the space marine look. Go for the alien look. Be imaginative. Be a Che-Guevarra like revolutionary
from the future, or a punk from another planet. Decide what you think the future will look like, should look like. And then
wear it.
Fashion is NEVER without content.
WHAT WILL THE FUTURE SOUND LIKE?
Music is at an all time low, as far as I'm concerned. Everything you hear on the radio has all been done before (surprise
surprise). So if and when you try to make music, try to make something new and beautiful and rebellious and powerful and different.
Make it sound like what you wish music sounded like.
When you listen to music, try to find stuff that's unique. There are artists out there already doing some pretty imaginative
things. Bjork, for instance. Radiohead. The Creatures. Open your ears to everything.
WHAT IS THE PHILOSOPHY OF THE FUTURE?
Sick of the same old politics and religion, the same old shitty ideas? Well, don't just bitch about it. Do something. Make
up your own faith. Be your own messiah. Stand UP for what you believe in.
The idea of futurism is that humanity is NOT headed directly down the toilet. There is still time for us to do something good,
for us to have a FUTURE. The earth can be saved, peace can be attained, higher knowledge can be found.
It doesn't end with style and sound. It doesn't even START there. TO BE A REAL FUTURIST YOU HAVE TO HAVE IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE
OF THE PLANET. That's the ONLY requisite. So long as you have that NEVER let anyone call you a poser.
Futurism is all about making YOUR wishes come true. It's about sticking it to the bullshit and letting go of history that
always repeats itself. It's about living in the moment while looking forward in time. And that's what the human race needs.
